Interesting!

The second design is also interesting but my favourite today is the first design.
I have started scribbling a new applique version of Double Wedding Rings … now all I need an hour or two to sit at the computer and draw the blocks before I can use them in quilt designs.
read moreLove the green appearing in the background as it is now the end of a dry winter and there has been very little green on the ground … there has even been less weeds in the garden. (Not a lot less though.)

I love the second design, especially the centre!
Perhaps it is the extra green that makes it more attractive to me.
read moreI would have loved to walk into a hotel/motel on our wedding night to see something like these designs on the bed!

They would work as whole cloth quilts too, with the applique shapes outlined with two rows of stitching, and a boring background filler.
read moreIf I had started quilting about 10 years before I did I would have made one of these designs to loan to newly wed children, nieces and nephews, for a month or so after their big day, adding the names and dates of each wedding … but by the time I started quilting some had already tied the knot, and now the next generation are making plans, and I am behind in making quilts for them to keep.

Maybe one of the next generation will become a quilter, and they can backdate the names to their great grandparents!
read moreI love Strings of Beads. The beads themselves can be cut from any scraps of fabric, selected scraps, or purchased fabrics. Mark the shapes onto fusible webbing before ironing onto the wrong side of the fabric, and then cut out.

I love the second design!
read moreIt was a decent day, but I've been feeling tired lately. Perhaps the heat, although we've had hotter days. I know I'll need a nap today, as I was awake for part of the night. I'm off to spin class but think I'll nap when I return. I hate when that happens, but it's life!
The last blog post needs one last quick read-through, and it's gone, so that is good. I need to take one more picture, but I should have that out of the way by noon—even with a nap ...
read moreLove the dainty applique in contrast to the Double Wedding Rings.

I like the second design, but the first is my favourite of these two.
read moreI enjoy playing with traditional designs to create something different. I also prefer applique to piecing, so turning a design where the rings were usually pieced together to an applique design was a natural for me.

Even better with an area where quilting can be shown off.
read moreLot s and lots of room for quilting!
This project file was started in 2018, and looking at it now I must have been busy doing other things, and didn’t take time to add some quilting designs.

The second design also has room for quilting to shine, but if it was under construction on the wedding day those empty spaces could be filled with signatures of wedding guests, or wedding photos could be printed on the fabric, … or a mixture of the two!
read moreVery nice.

Some minor changes, still nice.
I have to admit that pretty much every day I add more designs to whatever project file I open … I keep wondering what it would look like if I change a block, swap some colours, and after just a few minutes I might have added five or more designs to the file.

read moreI like the first design with some busy areas, and some open spaces.

I like the second one too, and it is my favorite for today.
read moreI am wondering if I would applique or piece the curves, and if applique, hand or machine.

I would hand applique the fine lines, so I guess I would do the same for the heavy ones.

Interesting!
I enjoy using traditional quilt block designs to create designs with just a hint of the basic blocks. Adding applique always makes it more interesting.

The second design is about weddings, with wedding and engagement rings, hearts and doves, with just a hint of Christmas in the colours of the ribbons the doves are carrying, possibly to build a nest..
read moreLots of little flowers to cut and stitch on, but I think it would be worth it for the right recipient.

Oh, so romantic.
read moreVery pretty.

Love the second design, though I think I would tone down the colouring in the applique blocks in the corners if I was cutting up fabric to make this one.
read moreAt one point in my life I thought it would be a good idea to make a family heirloom wedding quilt … one which could be used by each newly married member of the family for a short time after the wedding. As it turned out I am glad I didn’t do it because I have heard of families where the extended families attended two weddings very close together and far apart so getting the quilt from one couple to another would have been difficult, even if the first couple had returned from their honeymoon.

I still like the idea ...
